Novak’s blog and free ad

Novak’s blog has a special offer for us almost unknown bloggers. He offered us a free 125 x 125 ad for the whole January. All you have to do is link to his first page and to his post about free ad. Although I like his blog, because of the fresh content and honesty.

I also like design of his blog. It is simple but still complex enough to impress.

Slovenian symbol for Presidency of the EU 2008

Slovenian symbol for the upcoming EU presidency in first half of the year was designed by Robert Kuhar. Symbol for EU presidency it’s really unique. The symbol is a combination of five basic elements - Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Ether.

Fire is represented by the yellow shooting star in the middle that recalls the stars in the flag of the European Union. It represents the dynamism and energy of a young, modern country looking to the future and eager to face challenges. The fact that the star is “in the arms” of Mt Triglav means that the EU is in safe hands under Slovenian leadership.

Triglav, depicted by the mountain outline at the top, represents Earth. Mount Triglav is Slovenia’s highest mountain and its most potent national symbol. There is a saying that to be a true Slovene, you must have climbed it. Triglav symbolizes determination and achievement.

Water flows below, depicting the rivers and sea forming part of Slovenia’s beautiful nature. Water symbolizes depth and wisdom, conveying Slovenia’s political, economic and cultural maturity, and its potential for wise counsels. Running water also symbolizes healthy living.

Air is represented by the white spaces interspersing the outlines of the symbol. It reminds one of Slovenia’s fresh, natural air, and symbolizes Slovenia’s desire to breathe life into all it undertakes.

Ether represents immateriality, and thus freedom and spiritual values. The symbol conveys this element through its flowing lines. It reflects Slovenia’s traditional ecological orientation.

Overall, the symbol conveys openness, movement, ambition and a sense of natural harmony.

I really like our new symbol, do you?

We’re back!

Hi folks!

Yes we’re back after “little” break. What was the fuzz about? Hm, someone called it a “dip”. When you got a whole fresh new idea and you are very excited about, than you even realized it, but after a while you fall in a “dip”. That’s a point with or without return. A lot of good ideas don’t survive because their authors give up. RedesignThis.Net will survive!

Because of my lack of time I have to change “Design of the day” in “Design of the week”. The other cool news is that we would have a new category “iPod touch/iPhone themes”. We will learn how to design “perfect” theme for your iPod touch or iPhone.

Check out soon! ;) Or even better “Subscribe“!

P.S. I’m looking for fresh designers for writing news and sth. else. ;)

BlogRush - More traffic for your blog

BlogRush - More traffic for your blogAll new bloggers are faced with a similar problem: how to gain more traffic to your new blog without paying any money? We have the answer: through the free service BlogRush. All you have to do is insert their widget in your sidebar or some other place.

BlogRush is recommended by all big bloggers like Problogger (yet another post), John Chow and Shoemoney. I also added BlogRush to RedesignThis.Net because we need new traffic. I really recommend you BlogRush to gain some new traffic and I would be happy if programmers do little less wider widget.

P.S. BlogRush is at this very moment in Beta and only English blogs are supported.

Design of the day 17/09/2007

Black + White = Grey. We have a lot of Grey variations. From dark Grey to very light Grey. Website Cameron Moll have a nice Grey mixture with red ad-don. It is so Swiss. Elegant and in order. I really like their typography in header, content and sidebar. Details matter.
