Designers redesigning their own sites continuously is definitely not a new thing, whilst any other redesign for any other blog / website is always a great thing to freshen things up a bit. Two big bloggers, Problogger and John Chow, recently grabbed the attention of the blogosphere with their respective new designs.
Redesigning a blog has got to be a well-thought through process with some strategic goals that the blogger / designer wants to be achieve with the redesign. Designers with blogs seems to be the most guilty of not planning a redesign properly and most of them just seems to redesign for the sake of redesigning. As you’ll see from the screenshot below, I too launched a redesigned version of my own blog (titled Polaroid Redesign V2) on Saturday (1 September), since I felt it was time for change. To however explain what I mean with planning a redesign, have a look at my redesign post-op…

Redesigning a blog means that you’re joining a very particular club that features some top notch redesigns - like Problogger and John Chow - and the club will most definitely judge your redesign in comparison to the other newly launched designs. This means that your redesign needs to be well-planned to make the impact that you’re hoping for!
Except for joining the “redesign club”, redesigning is also about the associated culture. One of the major reasons for my redesign was the traditional September first reboot culture (although this seems to have died out). Redesigning a blog is a massive challenge, due to the very popular culture thereof…
So don’t be willy-nilly and ignorant about your next redesign - think about it and launch a special new design!

I hate IE. Why? Because I always have to adjust new design for IE6 and IE7. That usually means few hours of extra work. Internet could be such a nice if everybody would use Firefox instead of IE. So I asked sverde1 to introduce his nice anti IE plugin and offered it to everybody.
Around three weeks ago Jan asked me if I can make him a Wordpress plugin that will show GetFirefox banner in IE just like on my homepage. I said why not and started to work on the plugin that was finished in few hours.

So this is the result. I’ve also added few options in admin panel where you can set:
- URL where user will be taken if he clicks on the banner
- URL of the banner itself
- how long the banner will be shown
- position of the banner (currently there are available only 4 positions, I’ll add more if there will be interest)
- margins from the border
Download
Installation:
- Extract the FFBanner/ folder from ZIP file
- Upload FFBanner/ folder into your Wordpress plugin folder
- Open your Wordpress administration, click on Plugins tab and activate the plugin
- Check FFBaner in IE6 or IE7
- Enjoy
